This sunday SKT has become a member of 5G Automotive Association (5GAA)

5GAA :


Founded : 27.09.2016

Target :  connected mobility and road safety , automated driving

Members : AUDI AG, BMW Group, Daimler AG, Ericsson, Huawei, Intel, Nokia, Qualcomm Incorporated

Alex Jinsung Choi, CTO and Head of Corporate R&D Center of SK Telecom claimed :


“We are designing 5G to support connected cars and autonomous driving. 5G will enable the automotive industry to create new and innovative values through services including augmented autonomous driving, worry-free car management and rich in-car services,”  “I believe that 5GAA will play a pivotal role in realizing 5GAA’s goal of creating new business opportunities for both the mobile telecommunications and automotive industries.”

Telecom company and german automobile manufacturers  has created 5G Automotive Association  . Target is to develop telecom solution , standarization and in the near future focus on autonomus drive.

5G inteligent cities

German automobile manufacturers as :  Audi AG, BMW Group and Daimler AG with presence of  Ericsson, Huawei, Intel, Nokia and Qualcomm Inc. Aim is to create global next generation network which can create inteligent cities.

5G automotive system

In practise it comes to communication mainly between cars. If vehicle detect something worrisome on the road it will have opportunity to send the warning message to other vehicles

In plan also is integrating car security messanging system with smarftphones and other multimedia systems
