Qualcomm has announced first 5G phones will be in 2019
Qualcomm CEO Steven Mollenkopf claimed at the Frankfurt Motor Show that 5G will arrive in real devices during 2019, and added that should he have been asked last year, he would have estimated it would happen in 2020.

September: Qualcomm and Nokia together test 5G NR radio
March : working with Verizon and Sprint and Softbank under 5G .
also :
Under 5G also Huawei is involved .Huawei has shown transmission between phone and BTS 2GBit/s . Huawei is partner of DTAG ( Deutsche Telekom ) .

1. 3GPP develops specification , not standards
3GPP focus around it self enginners who are creating specification based on newest technological achievemens , then 3GPP forward to other standarization organization (SSO - Standards Setting Organizations ) . At the end SSO creates standard.
2. 3GPP does not employ directly
The activity of the organization is fully depend of 3GPP members . Members are selected from company which are cooperate with 3GPP.
3. Work in 3GPP
Works in 3GPP are equally distributed between members and are subject to comprehensive review . Complexity of systems under which organization 3GPP is working it requires to build specialized branches . 3GPP consists of 16 working groups , additionaly inside 3GPP are 3 working groups manage specifications ( TSG ) . Main responsibility of TSG is decision making within 3GPP.

“Qualcomm Technologies is committed to deliver the most compelling mobile broadband experiences based on 5G NR technology. We are making 5G a reality for mobile devices – including smartphones – from sub-6 GHz to millimeter wave – globally,” claims Cristiano Amon, executive vice president, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., and president, Qualcomm CDMA Technologies.
“The appetite for 5G technology is clear, amongst both consumers and communications service providers,” explained Marc Rouanne, president of mobile networks, Nokia.
5G Tests OTA
First tests OTA ( Over the Air ) will be very soon during field trials . Nokia HW and Qualcom based on Release-15 3GPP Specification .
All those actions should lead to prompt commercialization of 5G NR technologies . Lunches are planned in 2019 based on 3GPP Standard compliant with 5G NR Infrastructure and devices .
Need to is meet market requirements for still higher and higher throuput .
From last survey 48% responders claimed that is interesed to buy device with supporting 5G .
Speed : gigabits per second and minimal latency is will of customers .
Whole 5G as a common feature is very expected in mobility devices
meeting the increasing connectivity requirements consumers of 5G mobile wireless network :
Target is to proof solution of connectivity : Nokia AirScale base station transmitting over the 5G NR radio with Qualcomm device.

5G is not yet ready , but 3GPP New Radio is now almost ready. Of couse manufactures of base stations and terminals can't wait for finalizing works under standardization .
Therefore engineers since long time works under new technology.
Deutsche Telekom boots first base station delivered by Huawei and it's capable to work in commercial network.
